Cars and Crucifixes

Cars and Crucifixes

There is a

fraction of a millisecond

that occurs right before the

snarling,

slathering maw

and the blinding,

razor-bright eyes

of a car

skids the scarlet and unending

insides of a

deer

into something

nearly indistinguishable

from the rotting, squishy pavement.

And in that fraction of a millisecond,

that deer

is closer to

God

than any

pastor,

priest,

preacher,

or prophet

could ever dream.

Because car and crucifixion are one and the same.
